Finished slab mirror on wall showing birds-eye maple flanking the mirror glass

Slab Mirror

Wall mirror built from the same birds-eye maple slab used in the Arachno Coffee Table. The slab was ripped down the center along its natural live edge, and the mirror glass set between the two halves — the void between them becomes the mirror, mimicking the river table concept in a vertical format. A key structural challenge: mirror glass alone can't support the weight of the slabs, so a backer plate was fabricated and the mirror sandwiched between it and the wood, transferring the load through the frame rather than the glass. The result looks like a single continuous slab of wood floating around a mirror.
