# Zach Mohr — Portfolio > Mechanical engineer, maker, and designer. BS Mechanical Engineering, South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (2023). MS Innovation Design, Wichita State University (May 2025). Open to opportunities in mechanical/manufacturing engineering, product design, and the outdoor/adventure industry. ## Contact - Site: https://zachmohr.work - Email: zach@zachmohr.work ## Background Zach Mohr is a mechanical engineer and hands-on maker with a broad skillset spanning engineering analysis, manufacturing process development, original furniture design, welding, woodworking, blacksmithing, brazing, and product design. He developed a signature brazed steel rod joinery technique that he has iterated across multiple original furniture pieces. His engineering experience includes aerospace internship work (hydroforming simulation, FEA) and a manufacturing engineering co-op at Bobcat where he supported prototype production of the L35 small articulated loader and optimized a weld production line. He is pursuing a Master's in Innovation Design alongside his professional work, graduating May 2025. ## Education - MS Innovation Design — Wichita State University (May 2025) - BS Mechanical Engineering, Minor: Business/Entrepreneurship — South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (2023) ## Skills Mechanical Engineering, FEA/Simulation, Manufacturing Engineering, FMEA, Standard Work, Lean/Line Balancing, Welding (MIG/TIG), Brazing, Blacksmithing, Woodworking, Lathe Operation, Epoxy River Techniques, CAD, Product Design, Graphic Design, Brand Development, Photography Direction ## Projects (summary) - Gun Cabinet (2020) — Custom pine cabinet with raised panels, barrel rack, and drawers - Small Desk (2020) — Mortise and tenon hardwood desk - Napkin Holder (2020) — Mixed-material piece combining woodworking, blacksmithing, and brazing; origin of the brazed joinery technique - Black Epoxy Furniture Set (2020) — Welded steel bases with epoxy river tops; bar stools and coffee table - Claro Walnut Coffee Table (2020) — Cookie slab top on original brazed spider-web steel base - Console Table with Drawers (2020) — Client piece; welded base, stained wood body, functional drawers; sketch-to-build - Toy Storage Shelf (2020) — Custom compartmentalized storage with bungee sections and color-coded bins - Pub Table (2020) — Slab top with black epoxy, extreme compound-angle welded base; matching side table - Memorial Flag Box (2021) — High-detail display box with dog tags, bullet casings, custom glass, and live-edge panel - Brass Wire Joinery Tables (2021) — Original technique: brass rods bent and packed into steel tube joints; side table and console - Bobcat Manufacturing Engineering Co-op (2021) — Prototype build support for the Bobcat L35 SAL; wrote initial standard work instructions; participated in FMEA; optimized snowblower weld line via time study and task redistribution - Arachno Coffee Table (2022) — Brazed steel lattice base in rectangular grid geometry; lathe-turned wood feet from slab offcuts - Slab Mirror (2022) — Birds-eye maple slab ripped and set around mirror glass; structural backer to transfer load off glass - Walnut Cookie Slab Table Set (2022) — Matched coffee and end tables; custom router sled jig for flattening; epoxy void fill; welded bases - Autonomous RC Boat (2022) — Undergraduate mechatronics project; ultrasonic sensor on servo sweeps field of view to build spatial map for obstacle avoidance - Aircraft Rib Wrinkle Prediction (2022) — Aerospace internship; FEA simulation in Altair HyperForm to predict wrinkle formation in hydroformed aluminum aircraft ribs; designed relief cutouts into tooling; validated with physical prototype - Arachno Side Table (2022) — Miniaturized Arachno concept as pedestal side table; CAD concepts extend the design language to a nightstand and dresser ## Full project details For complete project descriptions see: https://zachmohr.work/llms-full.txt ## Site structure - / — Home/landing - /projects.html — Full project portfolio with filterable grid and build logs - /llms.txt — This file - /llms-full.txt — Full project descriptions for AI agents
